Wardle Warriors U12 Whites Vs Bridge FC Eagles - 5/9
Match Report
Bridge FC Eagles 3 – 5 Wardle Warriors Whites
Wardle Warriors started their season in explosive style in more ways than one!
They pressed Bridge from the off and within the first five minutes won a corner which was cleared for another corner. This one soared in by Charlie Nicholson to by turned in skilfully by Ethan Sudworth the
central defender.
In an almost copy cat move a few minutes later, Wardle extended their lead from another Nicholson corner and after a bit of a goal mouth scramble Nathan Wardle scored.
At times the play was a bit scrappy and a couple of fouls which led to a Wardle player being sent off, that left Wardle down to 10 men for three quarters of the game.
However they continued to press and just before half time Kristian Kean sent a brilliant lob over the Bridge keeper’s head and straight into the back of the net for Wardle’s third, to make it 3-0 at half time. Kristian got moment of the match for that.
In the second half, just from kick off, Bridge pulled one back from a speculative shot from half way that saw the Wardle keeper off his line, and given no chance when the ball bounced over his head and into
the net.
The lack of eleven players on the Wardle team was now starting to show on their tired legs but they still continued to work forward. However, Bridge managed to get the score back to 2-3 with a scrappy
effort that Wardle just couldn’t get away. It didn’t last long. Wardle managed to get the two goal cushion back when Charlie Nicholson put Harry Kershaw through on goal and with a brilliant strike it was
2-4.
Wardle’s final goal came from another corner for Daniel Sutcliffe to get his first goal for the club and Wardle’s fifth and final goal of the match, he got a moment of the match award for that.
Bridge pulled a third goal out of nowhere in the dying seconds but it wasn’t enough to change the result, Bridge 3, Wardle Warriors 5.
Man of the match was Charlie Nicholson for assists in four out of the five goals.
