Wardle Warriors U12 Whites Vs North Walkden - 22/10
Match Report
Wardle Warriors Whites 3 v 3 North Walkden
Wardle Warriors started this game in mid table,
North Walkdenare top of the table with 100%
record, no pressure then!
Wardle though pressed where possible throughout
the game, they showed no fear of their opponents and had plenty of the ball in
the early stages of the game and earned a free kick which was brilliantly struck
by Ben Charlson, but just went wide of the
post.
A few minutes later, Harry Kershaw was through on
goal and from just outside the penalty area, shot straight into the back of the
net to put Wardle in front and earn himself the moment of the match
award.
Walkden had a few chances but the Wardle defence
held firm, led by man of the match Will Myers. Then, just before the half time
whistle, Harry Kershaw was brought down in the penalty area, the referee had no
choice but to give a penalty which was expertly converted by James Jackson. The
keeper got a hand to it, but it was not sufficient to keep it out. Wardle went
into the break 2-0 up.
The second half was similar, with Wardle still on
the attack, but their defence, that had held so resolutely in the first half,
didn’t manage to clear a ball and the resulting one on one with the keeper meant
that North Walkden pulled a goal back.
Walkden managed to equalise five minutes later in
much a similar vein when the defence couldn’t manage to clear the ball.
Then Walkden took an undeserved lead when a goal mouth scramble resulted in a goal. However, Wardle never let their heads go down and continued to press forward.
Some pressure down the wing resulted in a corner for Wardle with about
eight minutes to go. Charlie Nicholson sent the corner into the penalty area and
Nathan Wardle struck home to equalise.
A well earned draw was the final result 3 – 3.
