Wardle Warriors U12 Whites Vs Pennine Juniors Whites - 8/10
Match Report
Pennine Juniors Whites 3 – 6 Wardle Warriors Whites 3
Wardle progressed to the second round of the cup
with relative ease. Playing against a team who beat them two weeks ago, they
were 100% better today.
Wardle opened the scoring within the first 5
minutes, when Kristian Kean sent a through ball on to the foot of Harry Kershaw
who struck superbly into the back of the
net.
Ten minutes later though, Pennine levelled the
score when the Wardle defence had pushed up too far and couldn’t get back in
time.. Within minutes, Wardle had regained the lead. A teasing corner from
Charlie Nicholson, parried by the keeper, came back to Ben Charlson who struck
brilliantly to score his first goal this season.
Towards the end of the first half Pennine piled
on the pressure, but a goal line clearance and some great work from the Wardle
keeper kept Pennine out and kept the score at 2-1 to Wardle going into the
break.
The second half started in a similar way to the
first, Charlie Nicholson rounded the keeper and saw his shot come off a
defender, it fell kindly for Harry Kershaw to put Wardle 3-1 up. Some further
pressure resulted in Wardle increasing their lead when Kristian Kean scored from
a brilliant shot from 25 yards.
Wardle lost concentration for a few minutes,
comfortable with their lead and Pennine against the run of play managed to score
two goals in quick succession to drag the score back to 4-3 to the
visitors.
Wardle regained their cool and increased their
lead with a goal from James Jackson after Harry Kershaw had made a great run
down the middle. They finished the game with a goal from Charlie Nicholson whose
assist came from Harry Kershaw. The referee blew the whistle and sent Wardle
into the next round, they finished the game
6-3.
Man of the Match was Matthew Clegg and moment of
the match was Cameron Kenworthy for a great clearance in the first
half.
