Wardle Warriors U12 Whites Vs Unsworth FC - 5/11
Match Report
Unsworth Jfc 1 v 7 Wardle Warriors Whites
Wardle were hoping for a good start to this game after their win
in the home tie last week. They got it.
Some early pressure from Wardle led to the central defender, Ethan
Sudworth putting a brilliant through ball to Charlie Nicholson who slotted home to put them in the lead. Several minutes later, James Jackson sent a lovely ball in from a defensive position to Harry Kershaw, who after a streaming run finished with a great strike. There was a lot of pushing and shoving in this game but Wardle got their revenge by stretching their lead to 3 just before half time. Kristian Kean this time supplying the pass for James Jackson, Wardle’s top scorer and man of the match, to
score his first of the match.
The second half started in similar explosive fashion, when straight from kick off James Jackson turned supplier for Nathan Wardle to score
Wardle’s fourth and almost got the fifth a few minutes later when he headed home a Charlie Nicholson corner, only to see James Jackson tap it over the line for his second goal of the day.
A little bit of pressure from Unsworth led to successive corners
and despite a clearance off the line by Cameron Kenworthy, which earned him moment of the match award, and some stout defending, the ball came out to an Unsworth midfielder who hit a looping shot which went straight over the Wardle keeper’s head and into the back of the net. This gave Unsworth a glimmer of hope and they pressed forward.
However, this left a gap at the back which was exploited again when Charlie Nicholson passed through to James Jackson (who else?) to score his hat-trick and Wardle’s sixth. Unsworth didn’t learn from their mistakes when an almost duplicate of the previous goal saw James Jackson score his fourth and Wardle’s seventh and final goal of the game, to finish up as 7 – 1 winners. Wardle’s next game is in the Main Cup.
