Unsworth Jfc 2 – 6 Wardle Warriors Whites

Wardle got back to winning ways this weekend, with a convincing 6 – 2 win over Unsworth. 

Harry Kershaw opened the scoring with a well taken shot, following a good run down the wing. The second came a few minutes later and followed some good pressure from Wardle, a great through ball from man of the match Kristian Kean allowed Jordan Lynch to finish off. 

Unsworth pressed forward and forced a great save from Will Myers, the Wardle defence stood firm and Unsworth couldn’t break through. 

Wardle scored two more goals before the break, both scored by Charlie Nicholson, the first followed some neat work from Harry Kershaw, beating 2 defenders along the way. The second, Wardle’s fourth was a great solo effort taken well. 

The second half started in the same vein, Ben Charlson sent Kristian Kean through on goal, but he saw his shot saved by the keeper, this however, fell to James Jackson who was on hand to turn in to make in 5 – 0 to Wardle. 

Unsworth then had their best spell of the game and some pressure resulted in them pulling a goal back from an easy tap in. Harry Kershaw, brought down in the penalty area, saw his resulting penalty saved by the Unsworth keeper. 

Wardle’s sixth goal came again from a fabulous run and strike from Charlie Nicholson, which earned him the moment of the match award and also got him his hat-trick.  With just a few minutes to go, Unsworth got a free kick just outside the penalty area, they took it too early and the referee made them re-take it, at the second attempt he struck it beautifully and it sailed into the top corner of the net, leaving the Wardle keeper no chance and to end the game 6 – 2 to Wardle.
