Wardle Warriors U9 Blues Vs. Bury AM Panthers - 1/10
Match Report
Team: Lewis, Harry, Harrison, Jensen, Matthew, Liam, Luke K (capt)
Subs: Ellis, Amy, Luke J
Wardle Warriors Blues 1 Bury Am Panthers 4 (Harrison 7)
With the first day of October feeling like the middle of summer, the weather was all over the place as was the the Blues performance.
Within the first minute, Luke K had a half chance in the box which was blocked by the keeper and then Liam hit a shot which flashed across the face of the goal but went wide. From the next attack, the Blues forced a corner from which the keeper palmed to the edge of the penalty area, where Harrison returned
it with interest past the keeper in to the top left corner to make it 1-0. Two minutes later, Panthers scored to make it 1-1. With the game now ebbing and flowing, Harry made a great tackle in defence as last man before Matthew went on a good run battling through numerous challenges before having his shot saved and
then Luke K won the ball in the opposition box before shooting wide. After 19 minutes had elapsed, Panthers scored again and the score-line remained the same at 1-2 when half-time was signalled.
Jensen replaced Lewis as Goalkeeper. Lewis immediately got involved in the action and went close with a header before Matthew had a shot easily saved by the keeper. The action went straight down the other end and Jensen made a good save from a close range effort. After 5 minutes, a good ball from Matthew sent
Lewis down the left whose well struck shot went across goal but just wide and a minute later Lewis had another shot saved. The Blues went close again, when Lewis laid on Liam but his shot went wide and before the Blues could launch another attack Panthers made it 1-3. Undeterred, a great pass from Liam to
Matthew led to another chance which again was hit wide. With 10 minutes to go Liam crossed and the ball fell to Lewis in the centre of the goal but he failed to convert the opportunity and Panthers went straight down the other end and only a good tackle on the edge of the box by Harry prevented a goal scoring
chance but two minutes later the Panthers did score again to make it 1-4 and kill off the game. With two minutes remaining, the Blues were awarded a free-kick which Harrison struck well and it looked to be going in to the top right hand corner but was well saved by the keeper. The subsequent corner was
headed over. A minute later the Blues were put out of their misery as the final whistle blew.
