Wardle Warriors U9 Blues Vs. Chadderton Park Dragons - 29/10
Match Report
Team: Travis (capt), Ellis, Harrison, Lewis, Matthew, Liam, Luke K
Subs: Amy, Luke J
Wardle Warriors Blues 3 Chadderton Park Dragons 5
(Liam 18, Matthew 27, 40)
With barely a minute on the clock and with their first attack of the game,
Chadderton were allowed three shots on goal with Travis making a triple save
whilst the Blues defence just stood and watched but even he couldn't stop their
fourth effort, as Chadderton made it 0-1. After five minutes the Blues finally
created their first chance with Harrison shooting over from the edge of the box
and then an effort by Liam which was turned round the corner by the keeper.
Chadderton responded by attacking and some good defending by Harrison, Lewis and
Ellis kept them at bay but when a free-kick was awarded, Chadderton capitalised
to make it 0-2. The Blues didn't drop their heads though and as Matthew ran in
on goal he was brought down in the box and a penalty was given. Liam made 1-2
from the penalty spot. Five minutes later though and Chadderton restored their
two goal advantage, as they were allowed to run straight through the middle of
the defence to make it 1-3 just before half-time.
The second half started as the first half had ended with Chadderton attacking
and required some good defending from Lewis, Luke J and Ellis. After two minutes
though, Matthew picked up the ball just before the halfway line and ran straight
at the Chadderton defence before hitting it low and hard in to the bottom right
corner to make it 2-3. The game now ebbed and flowed with Travis saving at one
end and then Matthew hitting the bottom of the post from 20 yards out at the
other end. Lewis replaced Travis in goal. The next chance though fell to
Chadderton, who made it 2-4. The Blues continued to battle though with Luke K,
Amy and Harrison tackling well before Liam went past two defenders before
passing to Matthew who took it on and once again hit a powerful shot in to the
bottom right corner to make it 3-4. Lewis then made a double save and Travis
defended well but when another free-kick was awarded, the outcome was the same
as earlier, as it was hit well, over Lewis to make it 3-5. With a few minutes
remaining, Lewis made another good save before Harrison headed over the bar and
a good run from Liam was well defended then Luke K went past two defenders but
shot wide. A minute later and the final whistle blew.
